She has received numerous awards for distinguished service, from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Optometric Association, the State University of New York, and many other organizations.

He has been credited as the inventor of Corneal Stem Cell Transplantation. Loss of clarity to the cornea is one of the most common causes of blindness around the world.
